Instructions:

Can you change cat to dog by changing one letter at a time? cat-dog

First click on the letter you want to change - such as the 'a' in cat and then choose a new letter from the alphabet keyboard to form a new word from the chosen dictionary. Keep doing this until the top and bottom words meet somewhere in the middle.

You can also go up from the bottom such as changing the g in dog:

Here is another way to solve it in 3 steps:

And here is one of numerous ways to solve it in 4 steps:

You can undo up or down - or start over - using the buttons below the keyboard
The colors indicate whether the change is up or down or where the words meet
When you have connected the two words your results will be shown
The best you can do is the minimum number of steps. It's great to solve it no matter how many steps - but it's a fun challenge to try to match the minimum number of steps.
Note that we have a limited list of words (which may grow over time). If the new letter forms a valid word on the list it will put the new word on a new row. If it's not a valid word the message will let you know.

Toggle help cues ON or OFF

Help cues tell you what type of button to click next. You can toggle this setting on and off in the settings panel - or with the button above. But Help cues don't give you clues to solve the puzzle. That feature will come later!

Toggle Timer ON or OFF

When the timer is toggled On then after a puzzle is completed it will include the number of seconds it took to solve which can be shared if desired.

Bonus Features

RESET SETTINGS

You can create your own puzzle! Just enter it here in the form cat-dog or moose-horse, wolf-bear etc. Both words must be in the wordlist you are using.

Custom puzzle:

When you complete your custom puzzle you can share it with your friends using the share button!

It can be up to 12 letters per word. But if either word is not in the word list, or if the format is not valid then you will get cat-dog

Or you can choose a previous day's puzzle or a different number of steps - or a combination of both!
